By creating website targeting profiles, you can fully control and automate when, where and how campaigns are triggered on your website. This article will give you general information on how to set up targeting. You can also find links to articles for more specific scenarios at the end. Watch the video below, or continue reading for in-depth instructions.
To start, navigate to the Targeting link at the left of your dashboard. This is where you will control all of the rules that dictate how your experiences will display. By default, two targeting profiles have been created for you. You can use these and edit them, or you can delete them and start from scratch.
Creating a new targeting profile:
Click on Add Profile at the top right of the targeting dashboard, and name the profile.
At the top of the Profile editor, click on Profile URLs. You will need to input all URLs that you want this rule set to correspond with.
For example, if your website is www.example.com, you would add a rule that says "URL domain contains example.com," as shown below:
Once you have your profile URL set, click the tab at the top that says Triggers.
Click Add Rule Set and name it. For this example, we will be creating a rule that displays an email acquisition campaign across the entire site.
Select the campaign you would like to use with this profile from the dropdown list.
Click Add Rule, and select from the dropdown list. You can add as many rules as you like. For this example, we will specify that this campaign will appear as a slide-in, on any page of the site, after the viewer has been on that page for 5 seconds.
To activate, make sure that you have the toggle in the rule switched to Enabled, and that the overall trigger is set to Live, up in the right hand corner of the trigger screen. You will also want to make sure you have Slide-in enabled in the campaign itself.
You can also control how frequently your website visitors will see your Zembula content in a single session by setting Global Frequency Rules. Click on the Content Frequency tab at the top of the targeting page, and input the desired values for each item.
If you want to start fresh, and reset all of the cookies, click Reset Now. Any visitor to your site who has previously visited will see all of your content again.
That’s all there is to it!
